  • Safe America Foundation "Text First. Talk Second" PSA
This public service announcement promotes Safe America Foundation's slogan, “Text First. Talk Second.” During an emergency we want to know if our loved ones are okay. When everyone is attempting to call their family and friends at the same time, networks can become overloaded and prevent calls from getting through. Safe America urges people to send SMS text messages first to verify if their loved ones are okay, and to reserve phone calls for life threatening emergencies.

    This PSA won two awards:
—1st place in the Safe America Foundation Text First Talk Second competition. The piece was selected to be nationally broadcasted.
—3rd place in the future@motion competition.

  • Arrival Departure Airport Project
This was a hypothetical project for the Oakland Airport Southwest Terminal. I wanted to create something that would be accessible to all ages. The project is modular so that anyone can catch on whenever they arrive in the terminal. The concept is meant to showcase the gamut of emotions one may experience when traveling. I served as creative director and co-producer for this animation and created storyboards, style frames and the many of the project assets.

  • Design Must
"Design must seduce, shape, and perhaps more importantly, evoke an emotional response."
    —April Greiman

This quote exemplifies what good and effective design should do. Inspired by the gorgeous photography of Karin Rosenthal, film noir, classical figure drawing poses (specifically contrapposto), I worked with a little but mighty film crew, and the gracious, phenomenally beautiful Rebecca Frank to capture the natural beauty and design apparent in the human body.

All individuals experience emotional responses to things. It is my hope that this short visual experience imparts some mood or sense of emotion for the viewer.

The typography in the opening shot, was practically achieved by projection mapping an animation onto Rebecca's back.

This my first attempt undertaking a film project of this nature and it was a tremendous learning experience. I am deeply grateful to all those who worked the late nights to help me realize my vision.

Cinematographers: Wes Terray and Chris Potter
    Model: Rebecca Frank
Set Assistants/Hands: Amy Belitsos and Mark
Music Composer and Mixer: Brian Kennedy

  • Feed Your Brain
I and a group of three other students from Ex'pression College for Digital Arts were solely tasked with creating an animation to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the Motion Conference.

Each year Motion brings together the most creative and talented minds from the motion graphic design, animation, and visual effects industries. Over the course of three days, attendees share their work, ideas, wisdom, and ultimately they gain new creative perspectives.

This stop motion animation reinterprets and deconstructs two very iconic design pieces, Pete Mondrian's "Broadway Boogie Woogie" and El Lissitzky's "Beat the Whites with the Red Wedge". By using jello, which is bright, colorful, malleable, and very unpredictable, we intended to elude to the idea that design should always be approached with new angles and perspectives. Creatives should constantly think outside of the box, know the rules and know how and when to break them and to fearlessly explore new approaches.

Used: Jello (300+ boxes of Knox), Food coloring, Canon 60 D, Dragon Stop Motion software

  • Cave Scribe Films Production House Animation
This animation for Cave Scribe films pays homage to the cave paintings of Lascaux. Animals were hand drawn and animated frame by frame and layers of charcoal were ground up, scanned and composited in After Effects to add a tactile "non-digital" aspect to the piece.

The project was was co-completed over one long day with fellow Ex'pression graduate Daniel Duncan, a pack of Generals charcoal, an Eadweard Muybridge run cycle, After Effects, Illustrator and Cinema 4D.

Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe After Effects, Cinema 4D & charcoal
